We have been learning about amphibians in reading. We went to Pet World this morning to see some amphibians and other animals. We had fun! We held some baby turtles. They are only a few months old. We know they live to 100 years and they were exciting. These baby turtles will grow into big tortoises like these.
Amphibians are animals that can live in water and on land. Some amphibians have gills to breathe underwater. They are cold-blooded and they come from eggs. Their skin is shiny and slobbery. Salamanders, frogs, worms, and toads are all amphibians. Frogs have different colors of skin. One type of frog can even live underground for one year!
This is a salamander. It has shiny skin.
These frogs are called dart frogs. They are very small and they eat fruit flies. They catch them with their sticky tongue. They are from Africa.
This is not an amphibian, but it was really cool! This is a Burmese python. It is 20 feet long. They feed it mice and rabbits. It has shiny and sparkly skin. Haben had not seen a snake this big before, but Karen had.
